Great spot

Our stay in this spacious, comfortable home was so relaxing. Most mornings we walked to the beach (very short walk) with our coffee and watched the sun rise. The lanai off the living room was our breakfast spot. And I loved the comfy outdoor space below the house - especially the swing!

Great Trip

Great time, the property was clean and very well equipped. Fans, AC and everything worked great. Our boys loved the dumbwaiter. Communication from the property management was OK, though they didn't respond to my reply to their texts. I could have tried harder (email, phone) but it wasn't that important. Overall it was a great week, much thanks!

An Amazing Gem!!!

This is the third time we have stayed in this stunning home and we absolutely love it here. It seems special touches are added between each stay. It is beautifully decorated, super clean, a great plan for families, and just steps from the beach. The views are stunning and there are fresh ocean breezes that flow through the house…it’s a quick drive up to Tunnels for some snorkeling, or a beautiful 20 minute walk up the beach to get there. The owners have also outfitted the covered area below the home with Ping Pong, an outdoor shower, seating, and plenty of beach gear for the kids/family. It’s also just a short drive into Hanalei for wonderful food and fun shopping. Already looking at booking stay #4 here…

Everything exceeded our expectations - a great stay

I almost don’t want to give this great a review because it will get booked up!

Everything about this home, management company and communication was about as good as it gets. We rent homes throughout Haena and this experience was probably the best experience we have had.

Communication was excellent and polite. The folio they email had all necessary information for an easy check in. After traveling all day you’re hot, tired and you just want to be done and relax. The moment we walked through the door it was just that - Hawaiian music was playing, the air conditioner was on and was pleasantly cool, ambient lighting was on and above all it was clean and absolutely beautiful.
The home was well equipped with everything you might need. It is a property we will rent again because we know this home and management company was outstanding. Enjoy the North Shore and stay here - you won’t be sorry.

Can't wait to come back!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay here when we came back to the island for a week this summer. We have spent months on Kauai in the past, most of them on the north shore in the Haena and Hanalei areas, and this is our favorite spot so far. It’s a beautiful and meticulously maintained home, and a short 3 min walk to the beach where we could swim at high tide in the coral created lagoons or a 10-15 min walk to more swimming and then on to tunnels where the snorkeling and swimming are so great in the summer. They have also done a lovely job with the house grounds - creating privacy and the right shade/sunlight balance, and making a peaceful and fun space on the ground level under the house with a swing, lounging furniture, pots growing taro, and ping pong table, which our 8 year old played for hours. Highly recommend!

Absolute Perfection

This was our second stay at Hale Hina. The house is amazing and perfect for families and friends traveling together. Each bedroom has a private bathroom and the open dining and living space is perfect for meals and having fun! The ocean view is stunning and the outdoor living space downstairs (ping pong, BBQ, swing) is another area to enjoy! The house is equipped with everything you could possibly want or need. We dined on the lanai for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The management company was responsive and pleasant. We will definitely stay at Hale Hina again. 5 STARS! Mahalo Greg & Joanne

Amazing stay!

Amazing stay! My wife and our 3 boys had a great week here. Close to a beach path leading to an uncrowded beach with amazing snorkeling. Coffee on the porch soaking in the ocean view every morning. Home was clean and well stocked. Our boys enjoyed playing ping pong in the morning and evening under the home and out of the rain. Short drive to hanalei for boogie boarding w/ fun beach break waves and the best snorkeling in the back yard. Home was really nice and when rains settled in was a great place to be. Surrounded by tropical landscaping and birds.

Haena Stay in June

Great stay for my group of 7. The home is tastefully decorated, has a kitchen with all cooking gear and is generally comfortable - plenty of room for 7. The location was fabulous - 1-2 miles from Tunnels beach and the state park and 2 minute walk to a beach where you can catch sunrise and sunset. Home has a full supply of beach chairs, umbrellas, pull cart and boogie boards - all were in good condition. Communication with the management team was easy and they were responsive. Only flaw was the grill igniter doesnt seem to work but we were able to light it manually. All told, a terrific home in one of the most beautiful areas I have ever visited.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The location is fantastic for its proximity to Tunnel's Beach and snorkeling. It is a little further down the road from Hanalei Bay but that's why we liked it. The beach access was very easy and close. The property itself was terrific. Very clean and spacious and we felt that the owners had thought of just about everything. Their entertainment system was easy to use. It was nice having a washer and dryer on location with detergent already there so as not to incur addition costs. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. This was our third time staying on the north shore and would have no hesitation staying here again.

Great relaxing stay

Outstanding home and service

The pictures of this house do not do it justice. We arrived after dark and were greeted with lights and A/C on for us. You won't find a more perfect location - kitchen well stocked, spotless, great outdoor areas, comfortable bedding, and beach essentials. We didn't eat out once! But love that about our North shore vacations and gave been returning for over 20 years. Management very responsive. Do not hesitate to book this great house!!

Amazing home, amazing view, amazing vacation

The house is beautiful and just as pictured. The layout was perfect for the 3 couples in our group. Great kitchen, very well equipped. The view is amazing from the master bedroom and living room. We walked almost every morning ( one morning was raining, but with rain we were blessed with rainbows and waterfalls!) to the beautiful beach. WHAT A VIEW! This was our 3rd trip to Kauai and we have allays stayed on North shore. This was first time this far north but would definitely stay here again! It is more remote and you do have a drive to get to other beaches and attractions but to wake up in this morning and have the beach almost at your doorstep was well worth it. There never more then 5-6 other people on the beach. The property management team made check in and corresponding effortless.

A fabulous place

A week in paradise!

Our stay at Hale Hina was a dream come true! The house was beautifully decorated and perfectly located for our group of 6. Everything we could need was provided and the morning views from the deck were breathtaking! We loved being able to walk along the beach just a short walk from the house. We loved cooking together in the large kitchen and hanging out in the covered area below. We especially loved how each bedroom had its own spacious bathroom! The air flowed through the home well and it was so peaceful!

A perfect place! Wow

My guest and I have each traveled the world and been fortunate enough to have stayed in some fantastic places. This easily ranks up there with the very top. From the moment you arrive, after taking in the ridiculous view from the living room to the waves breaking, you realize how clean and spacious and modern the accommodations are and yet it feels warm and comfortable with just a subtle touch of island/surf decor. It really has everything you need. New appliances and beautiful kitchen and plenty of towels for beach and home. The ping-pong table, swing and beach chairs were surprise bonuses in the beautiful patio. Even a yoga mat! And most importantly, the location is fantastic. Just close enough to Hanalei to be convenient for the great restaurants and stores, but far enough out of town to feel away from the crowds, if there are any. A very short walk to the beautiful beach, and a short drive to some other stunning beaches as well. And every time you return after being out, it feels like a real home. Impeccably maintained by the management. Really wonderful. A slice of heaven. My only complaint is that the time flies by too quickly. Hope to return soon. Thank you! Aloha

Stylish beach house

Really enjoyed our stay in this house. The house is very well appointed and the interior design has great character. We've rented houses on the north shore of Kauai eight times now and this is certainly one of the top overall. A truly relaxing getaway!

Beautiful Rental

Hale Hina House

We had a spectacular time on the North Shore of Kauai. The house was exactly as described and fit our family of 7 perfectly. Location we excellent. Use the beach access to the west; more sand and less coral.

Little slice of paradise, so nice!

Hale Hina is an exceedingly well-appointed house in a very special location. Outfitted with three bedrooms, laid out in a very private way, the house also contains two exterior common spaces, and a large interior common space.

The location was pretty incredible. Not quite beachfront, but steps to the beach, it provides an excellent beach view across a neighboring property, and is surrounded by lush foliage, which provide a home to many birds and afford the home ample privacy.

I highly recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in a more remote part of the island, with nearby access to what seems to be the most celebrated beach on the island, Tunnels.

Makana was easy to work with, and I recommend booking with them directly (rather than a middleman like Airbnb) to save big on cost.

Hale Hina vacation

My family and I spent a perfect 10 days in the magical Hale Hina, cooking nightly in the well- appointed kitchen or the downstairs bbq area, walking the 1/2 mile to Tunnels beach every day, and watching the sunset from our own wilder b a high nightly. The house itself is beautiful and well-stocked with beach chairs and umbrellas. While we did venture out for a hike or two , an ice cream cone in Hanalei bay, we were happy to come home to the peaceful beauty of Haena. Everyone I talked with at Makana vacation properties was kind and helpful.

Real Kauai Experience

The location, setting, and residence details made this stay exceptional. This place was as comfortable as I ever experienced and the details made it even better. Often times, rental homes don't meet their own advertised expectations. This place far exceeds it in my opinion... We will do it again...

Quiet and relaxing

House was spotless when we got there, so cozy. They had plenty of beach towels, chairs/umbrella and boogie boards to use. Morning coffee on the lanai was so relaxing. We were close to the beach access points. Overall a great experience staying here.

Kauai Paradise

Great week! Beautiful property on the edge of the island at the end of the road. We were thankful for relative privacy and seclusion. The property is very well maintained and has all conveniences down to minor issues such as full kitchen appliances/cookware and beach items including towels, folding chairs and snorkeling equipment. The local beach was perfect for our needs and again, saw minimal traffic. Only downside was the unpredictable two full days of brush clearing at the property next to us. Would definitely return.

Amazing house, steps away from the beach!

Our family had the best time at the house over Thanksgiving week and we would gladly return again. The place was clean, modern and in the best quiet neighborhood. They have all the amenities for beach activities and were quick to respond to any needs. Fantastic place!

Relaxing Family Vacation

Even before we boarded the plane back to California, we started thinking about reserving our next trip back to this house. The house had everything we needed for our family of 5 (two boys 10 & 8 and our 15 month old daughter). Hale Hina felt like home and was very comfortable. It was super nice to be a short walking distance to so many beautiful beaches...we didn't feel the need to "pack for the entire day" at the beach. We would go to the beach for an hour or two, head "home" to relax & eat, then head back out for more adventure & snorkeling. The kitchen was great for cooking but a sometimes I drove about 15 minutes to town for take-out and shaved ice for the boys. We can't wait to go back!!
